    Ryan Osbahr
    23 Apr 2015 | 11:12 am
The Iowa football program will conclude its Spring Practice this Saturday with an open practice at Kinnick Stadium. If that sounds exciting to you, congratulations, you may be one of the select few that haven’t completely given up on the Kirk Ferentz era at Iowa. You can count me as one of those people for now, but with each passing season, it gets harder and harder to continue buying in. You won’t see the Spring Practice airing live on television — no, the live TV slots are reserved for programs that are good at football. You know, like seemingly all of Iowa’s rivals. The same…
  • The SEC Is Crying About B1G Satellite Camps

    J.P. Scott
    22 Apr 2015 | 11:46 am
Oh how the tables have turned. It wasn’t long ago that the Southeastern Conference was prancing around the country, signing all of the top recruits they could get their hands on. “Here’s an offer, sign with us!”, they’d say. And kids did just that — over and over and over. They sign so many of these kids, the SEC schools eventually have to let some of them go late in the recruiting process due to not having enough scholarships. Obviously, they keep the top recruits — the cream of the crop if you will — and cut the “riff raff” loose.

Last week I gave you the household names that you and everyone else will hear about during the 2015 Big Ten football season. Today, I tasked the Know It All Football staff with dropping a couple of names that don’t get a whole lot of attention right now who could blow up and have a say in how things shake out this coming season. Let’s see what our writers came up with: Jim Hoffman: (2 players) Wide Receiver John Tsimis and Safety Kiy Hester, Rutgers Last year, all of the discussion regarding Rutgers’ wide receivers focused upon Andrew Turzilli, a graduate transfer from…
  • Ten B1G Household Names In 2015

    J.P. Scott
    17 Apr 2015 | 8:40 am
As Spring football comes to a close, we can start dreaming about kickoff Saturday this fall in the Big Ten. I’m looking forward to another exciting season, as Ohio State begins the quest to defend a title and 13 other B1G schools begin the mission of dethroning the Buckeyes. Despite the mass exodus of some name-brand players to the NFL and graduation, the Big Ten will still have plenty of individual star power to carry the conference throughout the season. Here are ten players who you can count on being household names in the conference in 2015 while also garnering some national…

  • Finding Value in Positional Drafting in the NFL

    Jason Fitzgerald
    23 Apr 2015 | 5:59 pm
One of the best ways to gain financial flexibility in the NFL is to do well in the draft. As we have looked at over the last two weeks, the draft is underpriced compared to the veteran marketplace and gives a team the ability to gain a financial advantage if they do well to either cover up bad mistakes in free agency or go out and make moves in free agency. Draft success is the first real way for teams to use a Moneyball approach to gain a competitive advantage in the NFL. This is something that Seattle has taken advantage of in recent years, gaining millions of extra cap dollars per year on…
  • Greg Hardy Suspended 10 Games

    Jason Fitzgerald
    22 Apr 2015 | 2:06 pm
The NFL announced that Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy will be suspended for the first 10 games of the NFL season. Hardy was signed this offseason as a free agent, but the Cowboys protected themselves in the event of this suspension, a suspension that Hardy is likely to challenge in the coming weeks. I’ll take a brief look at what this means for the Cowboys salary cap.Hardy’s contract had four elements to it, three of which were pertinent to his cap charge the year. Of those components his workout bonus of $1,311,600 will not be impacted provided he reports to all offseason…
  • Mayo Agrees to Restructured Contract with Patriots

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Patriots and linebacker Jerod Mayo have worked out a contract that will reduce Mayo’s salary from $7 million to $4.5 million for the season, all of which is guaranteed. The contract will contain a non-guaranteed option, apparently worth $4 million, for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. The move should coe as no surprise. Mayo has been relatively invisible since 2012, struggling with injuries and seeing action in just 12 games over the last two seasons. He had a large amount of guarantees in his contract and was currently protected from release by a $4.5…

Do It Yourself Skin Care Remedies Since facial skin is the most visible on a body, it is worth it to start with some cheap remedies that can be done at home. Masks are some of the items that work wonders. About twenty minutes a day of complete fat Greet type yogurt on a person’s face begins to clear up the dark spots as well as pimples within just a week for most of the people. After around four weeks, an individual will start having a glowing skin. A bonus with this particular style is that by putting the mask on one’s lips , one is in a position to get rid of skin that may be flaky…

When the Philadelphia Eagles signed Tim Tebow to a one year, veteran minimum contract, many struggled to make sense of the move—the team already have three backups to presumed starter Sam Bradford prior to the draft—but the move may well be one of the shrewdest moves made by any team this offseason. We take a look at why. View image | gettyimages.com The NFL just can’t seem to give up on Tim Tebow. The man veteran kicker Jay Feely recently called “the single worst quarterback I ever saw” in his long NFL career, somehow, against the odds, has another shot at winning a…

Today we continue out draft profile series by looking at another player that the Detroit Lions have brought in for a visit.  With running back being a need, Tevin Coleman is definitely a player to watch.  Coleman is currently expected to be a second round pick.  Some analysts have him going in the very late first round while most have him in the mid to late second round.  NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein tweeted today that he does not expect a big run on running backs in the second round.  He is hearing the third round is when that will happen.  If that happens, Coleman could fall to the…

The Detroit Lions announced today that they have released guard Rodney Austin.  Austin, who was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2012 out of Elon, had been with the team on both the active roster and the practice squad.  He was kept around by the coaches and Martin Mayhew due to his potential.  The problem is that he never developed as they had hoped he would.  The announcement today comes as a shock considering that the team is short on guards, and that usually teams keep developmental players on the roster all offseason so they can get their work in.  The release of Austin likely…
  • Detroit Lions Trade Defensive End George Johnson To Buccaneers

    Vince Vielhaber
    15 Apr 2015 | 6:34 am
When George Johnson signed his offer sheet with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, that was supposed to be it.  He was not signed to a second round tender so the Lions would receive nothing for choosing not to match his offer.  His contract called for almost $3 million per season, and the Lions certainly would not match that right?  Well the team disputed the terms of the offer sheet, and the NFL agreed that there was some funny business in the terms, sending it to an independent arbitrator. The Lions disputing the offer sheet looked like a good sign that they planned to retain Johnson.  Today it…

Which wide receiver will the Oakland Raiders take with the fourth overall pick? Will it be Amari Cooper or Kevin White? That is the main topic of discussion for Raider Nation. They also need to improve their weak pass rush.Clemson outside linebacker, Vic Beasley could be the man for the job. They have needed help since the Greatest Show on Turf Days and have not seen a stable offensive line since Andy McCollum manned the center position.Along with the offensive line, the Rams also need help at wide receiver and quarterback. They have six opportunities to fill those holes as best they can, so the question is, what do the Rams spend their picks on and when? The receiving corp is not the best (we will get to that later), but it is not the most pressing unit on…

Tebow led the Broncos to a AFC West division title and a playoff win against the Steelers. Today, Tebow does not have the skill set to be a starter in the NFL. However, that does not mean he can’t be useful to the Eagles offense. Maybe…
