    1 Jul 2015 | 4:08 pm
Despite the apparent willingness of Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson to play in 2015 for $1.5 million and to change teams if need be in 2016, signing a contract before the regular season begins carries a pair of significant benefits for Wilson. First, and as previously mentioned, signing a contract before the 2015 season shifts the…

So far, the Texans haven’t. “The Houston Texans are aware of the police report regarding DT Brandon Ivory in Tuscaloosa, Ala.,” the Texans said in a statement. “At this…
  • Brandon Magee still waits for NFL call, would give up baseball

    1 Jul 2015 | 2:54 pm
In March, the Buccaneers released linebacker Brandon Magee. The next day, he reported for Red Sox training camp. The offseason program came and went without any team offering Magee an NFL job. In the interim, Magee has kept playing baseball — continuing with Boston’s Class A affiliate, the Lowell Spinners. Bating .250 through seven games,…

  • Odell Beckham Jr. Gets a Baseball Contract From Rockland Boulders

    Matt Loede
    1 Jul 2015 | 10:00 am
Fox Sports reports that Giants sensational WR Odell Beckham Jr. has been offered a baseball contract. Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders will need to make some room if the Rockland Boulders have any say in things. The Can-Am league team wants to make New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. the next football star to also play baseball. After watching Beckham rip a softball across the plate at a charity event, the Boulders were apparently convinced–or at least their public relations person was. The Boulders, an independent league team based out of Pomona, New York, have offered Beckham…
  • Eli Manning Mentioned as One of the Best Play-Action QB’s in the NFL

    Matt Loede
    4 Jun 2015 | 5:31 pm
Pulling off a perfect play-action is a lost art form in the NFL, but if you have a player at the quarterback position that can pull it off, it makes it a valuable weapon for a team when they pull it off. Luckily for the Giants, they have a player that has gotten nothing but better at pulling off the play-action the past few seasons, that being Eli Manning. The QB is mentioned in an article by Sports Illustrated – The NFL’s Hidden Talents: Best play-action quarterbacks. Here’s what author Doug Farrar has to say about Manning and his ability to shine when it comes to play-action: After a…

Not only did Giants second-year WR Odell Beckham Jr. get honored with the Madden 15 cover in the month of May, but also people were buying his Giants NFL jersey at a solid pace. The wide out ranked 5th in jersey sales according to NFL Shop, behind just Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, Buccaneers QB Jamies Winston, Patriots QB Tom Brady, and Seahawks QB Russell Wilson. The ranking is based on sales on the NFL’s official online store from May 1-May 31. Perhaps more shocking is that of Brady, who is appealing his four-game suspension for his alleged role in Deflategate, finished at No. 3…

Weatherford was involved in an accident early Monday morning in which he totalled a rental car on the New Jersey Turnpike and walked away. The crash came just after Weatherford’s wife gave birth to baby Josie Jaclyn Weatherford on Sunday. Because of thunderstorms in the Newark area, Weatherford’s plane was sent to Washington D.C. instead and he decided to drive up to join his teammates at OTAs. The post Giants…

Too often people will rely on the rankings of whatever Fantasy Football site they play on when it comes time to draft. You may want to read this list before you draft this season. The players below are some you may want to think twice about drafting even if they are considered the “best ranked” on the board at the time. Carlos Hyde – RB, San Francisco 49ers: This one may surprise you but let’s pump the brakes for a second. In his second season Carlos Hyde is set to be the feature running back for the 2015 49ers. • Why the Minnesota Vikings WON’T draft a WR at 11

    Jake Anderson
    3 Mar 2015 | 9:24 am
Leading into the 2015 draft season in December I was convinced the Vikings would take a WR with the 11th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Whether it be Amari Cooper, Kevin White or DeVante Parker, hell even Dorial Greeen-Beckham which may be a top 5 talent without any off the field concerns whom Russ Lande mocked him to the Vikings in his last mock. The common phrase “get Teddy more weapons” is the e theme. As the draft season has worn on, the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine have come and gone, I’m getting the impression that WR is not the way the Vikings decision makers are going to go…

With the first round done we are entering the second with the OL fixed most likely. There are still many areas for improvement and in the second round I am going to lean more on the defensive side of the ball. It will be linebacker overboard here in the second. The Pick: Denzel Perryman ILB, Miami The Giants need help everywhere on the defensive side of the ball. They haven’t had an interior linebacker threat since Antonio Pierce and they can address that issue here in the second round. Denzel Perryman is a 6’0″ 242 lb linebacker with all the intangibles to be a great player…

One of the most common things that you can work on for the purpose of ranking higher in search results is simply known as the backlink. Without links to your site, no matter how amazing your page may be, you will not gain leverage. There are a lot of pages that are amazing, they have great web design, good graphics, video, and a lot of attention to the finer things, and they do not rank high for anything. If you want to be more than just another site online, you will need to look at getting your seo in order. This means that you will need to work with more than just one type of internet…

A few of our writers have chimed in on their thought as to which Big Ten team will be the most improved squad in the conference in 2015 compared to last season. Here’s what they had to say: Joe Kasel — For some reason, I feel like Rutgers could be the team that shows the most improvement this fall. They were pegged to finish last in the East but surprised most with a fairly decent record. With a new play caller in Ben McDaniels, the Scarlet Knights have a good core of running backs and returning an NFL prospect in receiver Leonte Caroo. That should help the Knights post some…

This past weekend there was again much talk about Russell Wilson’s contract with the Seattle Seahawks, mostly centered around the guaranteed portion of the contract. This was something I speculated about months ago when the Seahawks mentioned “outside of the box” thinking on Wilson’s contract and it looks to be a divisive issue between the sides.  Wilson’s agent is primarily a baseball agent, a sport where contracts are fully guaranteed so it is a logical point for them to take. So let’s see if we can sort this out. The Total GuaranteeThere are currently six quarterbacks in the…

  • Detroit Lions Sign Safety Taylor Mays

    Vince Vielhaber
    22 Jun 2015 | 7:30 am
The Detroit Lions signed free agent safety Taylor Mays.  Mays, the former 2nd round pick out of USC, has spent time with the 49ers, Bengals and the Vikings before landing in Detroit.  While Mays has no guarantee at a roster spot, he has been a decent special teams player throughout his career.  While being considered a bust due to not living up to his draft status, Mays does have ideal size for a safety at 6’3 and 225lbs and had exceptional speed coming out of college, having been timed at 4.32 seconds in the forty yard dash at one point.  From reading scouting reports for his…

    18 Jun 2015 | 11:35 am
The Detroit Lions announced today that they have released corner Bill Bentley.  Bentley was drafted in the third round in 2012 and was the Lions primary nickel corner when healthy.  Unfortunately for Bentley, he was never healthy.  In each of his three seasons he suffered a major injury that delayed both his development and his ability to make an impact.  With the Lions drafting Nevin Lawson last year, drafting Quandre Diggs and signing Josh Wilson this year.  Diggs has impressed coaches so far during camp and with Bentley still sidelined from a torn ACL last season, his likelihood of…

For the second time in his short NFL career, the Detroit Lions have released running back Rasheed Williams.  Williams was originally released after rookie camp following the draft so that he could finish school.  The Lions brought in Dez Martin from Wayne State to take his place with the running backs. Williams was re-signed after classes finished and made it through OTAs and the first day of minicamp before again being released. There is speculation that the release is related to the health of the Detroit Lions tackles.  LaAdrian Waddle is still recovering from his injuries last season…
  • Detroit Lions Release Anthony Boone Sign Garrett Gilbert

    Vince Vielhaber
    15 Jun 2015 | 9:06 am
The Detroit Lions made a surprise move over the weekend by releasing 4th quarterback Anthony Boone and claiming former St Louis Rams quarterback Garrett Gilbert.  Gilbert, the former Southern Methodist and Texas Longhorn quarterback, spent time with both the Rams and the New England Patriots.  The move was a bit of a surprise because typically the team uses the 4th quarterback as merely a camp arm.  They have virtually no shot to make the team.  Last offseason, James Franklin was barely used in his time as Detroit’s 4th quarterback.  This year, Boone didnt even make it past OTAs…

The Detroit Lions added a tight end to their offseason competition.  It was announced today that they had signed tight end David Ausberry from USC.  They released safety Nathan Lindsey to make room for Ausberry.  The move really has little impact on the final roster, and given the health of Joseph Fauria, who is still recovering from injuries, they likely needed another tight end for their OTAs.  According to Detroit News reporter Josh Katzenstein, Ausberry is present at OTAs today. Ausberry was drafted in the 7th round in 2011 by the Oakland Raiders.  He was barely used in his three…

    18 Jun 2015 | 1:21 pm
Heroes are not necessarily those who hit home runs, score long touchdowns or dunk from the free throw line. Heroes are often ordinary people who are placed in extraordinary situations. They set aside fear and anxiety to do what is right - to do what no one else is willing or able to do.Take CPR for example. Anyone around us at anytime could go into cardiac arrest. There won't always be a doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional nearby to perform CPR. Oftentimes, it's just you. What if it's another parent in the stands, a youth coach on the field, or God forbid - a kid? What do you do?
  • LeBron James is the best player in the world...So?!

    15 Jun 2015 | 9:23 am
LeBron James has obviously been reading his own headlines. Sunday night, after his Cleveland Cavaliers lost Game 5 of the NBA Finals, 104-91 and fell behind 3-2 in the series, LeBron had this to say to reporters when asked about his level of confidence (email subscribers click here to view media):I sometimes criticize basketball for being an individual sport masquerading as a team sport. There is an overemphasis on individual play, especially at the highest level. LeBron James is the best basketball player in the world. So, what?! He was the best player on the floor in last year's NBA Finals…
  • LeBron head injury shows winning still trumps safety

    12 Jun 2015 | 9:28 am
In case you missed it, this happened to LeBron James during Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night (email subscribers click here to view media). The cameras that networks use aren't over-sized camcorders, they are heavy, sturdy pieces of equipment. LeBron goes about 6-9, 260 - and he didn't hurt the camera. Lebron was bleeding and writhing on the floor in obvious pain holding his head.LeBron was not tested for a concussion. He didn't go to the locker room for that matter. What you see initially was the extent of LeBron's medical treatment until halftime.Towels! They used a bunch of towels…

After Orlando made an aggressive offer, Paul Millsap decided to return to the Hawks on a three-year, $58 million deal. • Atlanta Falcons Positional Review: Offensive Tackles

    1 Jul 2015 | 2:28 pm
The subpar performance from the Atlanta Falcons’ offensive line in the past two years has led to some changes. The most notable of these changes is the zone-blocking scheme that new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has installed. A zone-blocking scheme means the offensive linemen will all move in a certain direction assigned to block a certain area. This differs from most run blocking schemes that assign a certain defender for each lineman to block. This new scheme should help improve the Falcons rushing attack which only averaged 93.6 rushing yards per game last season ranking 24th in…
  • Seahawks' Jimmy Graham Could Dominate NFC West Foes

    1 Jul 2015 | 2:09 pm
Recently, fans have asked reporters covering the Seattle Seahawks how new tight end Jimmy Graham is going to fare in the Seahawks' run-first offense, how he will be a game changer, where he will line up and how much blocking he'll be counted on to perform. That is all good stuff, certainly, but what caught my eye this week is how some writers who cover the rest of the NFC West think their team will go about defending Graham. Josh Weinfuss, who covers the Arizona Cardinals, pointed to safety Deone Bucannon, the team's 2014 first-round pick out of Washington State. The 6'1", 208lb Bucannon made…

  • Heath Miller: The Best Tight End in Steelers History

    1 Jul 2015 | 5:15 am
When it comes to the tight end position for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the arguments for which one was the franchise's greatest aren't very intense. For one thing, Elbie Nickel played a long, long time ago, from 1947-1957. During his 11 seasons in Pittsburgh, he posted 329 receptions for 5,131 yards and 37 touchdowns. He also made the Pro Bowl three times, as per his wikipedia page. That's a pretty impressive career, especially for a team like the Steelers that, prior to Chuck Noll, changed coaches and philosophies about as often as they changed their underwear. For another thing, there just…
  • Oakland Raiders: Predicting Weeks 10-17

    30 Jun 2015 | 8:01 pm
This is a continuation from my article last week. Through the first nine weeks of the Oakland Raiders' season, I optimistically predict they win four out of eight games. Here are my picks of Weeks 10-17.Week 10: Home vs. Minnesota VikingsThis is a very winnable home game, but it’s going to be rough trying to stop Adrian Peterson. Khalil Mack is an absolute MONSTER, but he’s not going to stop Peterson. Nobody can stop Peterson. Teddy Bridgewater poses a big enough aerial threat to force the Raiders to respect the passing game, so it’ll be tough to send safety help to aid the front seven.

FirstEnergy Stadium located in Reading,PA will be adding a vape lounge provided by Sabor Vapors this season. FirstEnergy stadium is currently a smoke free stadium, as per a City of Reading Ordinance. I’d rather smell nothing at all, so maybe it’s a good idea. Although nothing could take me away from a game of baseball for vaping, unless they are giving away free beer. While smoking has been prohibited inside FirstEnergy Stadium for several years, as per a City of Reading Ordinance, the Reading Fightin Phils have always felt it was important to provide smokers with a comfortable…

    25 May 2015 | 2:17 pm
As reported by NFL Media Analysis Bucky Brooks, The Eagles are among NFL’s most talented teams. 9) Philadelphia Eagles Blue chips (7): OLB Connor Barwin, DE Fletcher Cox, RT Lane Johnson, C Jason Kelce, OG Evan Mathis, RB DeMarco Murray, LT Jason Peters. On the rise: LB Kiko Alonso, CB Byron Maxwell, K Cody Parkey. Chip Kelly has ruffled some feathers with his bold personnel moves, but skeptics can’t question the depth of talent on the Eagles’ roster. The offense will place the NFL’s reigning rushing king (Murray) behind one of the most talented O-lines in football.
