  • [Saints] Saints RB Reggie Bush Likely To Return?

    BigBlueBruiser
    9 Feb 2010 | 11:33 am
There has been speculation regarding Reggie Bush's future in New Orleans because his salary jumps to $8 million in 2010, which is an awfully big number for a running back who has never cracked 600 yards rushing in his four NFL seasons. But Don Banks of Sports Illustrated writes that there's no way the Saints release him, and that a trade seems very unlikely. He has two years left on his rookie contract, and the Saints could try to restructure the deal, but it's more likely the Super Bowl win will mean the marriage between Bush and New Orleans continues unchanged in 2010. • [Saints] Saints Likely To Retain LB Scott Fujita

    BigBlueBruiser
    9 Feb 2010 | 11:23 am
Linebacker Scott Fujita, 30, is a valuable veteran and consummate team player who the Saints will likely try to retain. Don Banks of Sports Illustrated writes that the Saints won't break the bank for Fujita, but he's the kind of smart, solid starter that head coach Sean Payton admires and covets. He loves playing in New Orleans, and won't be looking to merely chase the highest bidder. Source: Sports Illustrated

Its not certain if Walter Jones was serious when he "tweeted" that he was retiring. Seahawks left tackle Walter Jones announced via Twitter that he was retiring after an impressive 12-year stint in the NFL that included nine trips to the Pro Bowl. "I have came to the concussion it is time for me to retire from football," Jones tweeted just hours before the start of Sunday's Super Bowl. Jones then followed up a little later to correct himself, saying he meant "conclusion" instead of "concussion." However, neither the team nor Jones' agent, Roosevelt Barnes, could confirm the 36-year-old's retirement plans. Source: The News Tribune Attached…

Louisiana politician Sen. A.G. Crowe is proposing that the state create a vanity license plate to commemorate the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl championship and the "Who Dat nation." The plate would incorporate the Saints' fleur de lis logo, the state seal and the phrase "Who Dat nation." Crowe said he plans to speak with NFL officials, and that's an awful good idea because they got awful edgy about use of the term Who Dat with any trademarked logos. Source: National Football Post

Neil Hayes: Forgive Lovie Smith for allowing the search for Ron Turner's replacement to drag on, but this was a critical hire not only because the new offensive coordinator will be in charge of Jay Cutler's development. With all due respect to Rod Marinelli, who was promoted to defensive coordinator Friday, the new offensive coordinator could be the person who makes the biggest impact on the defense next season.

  • In the End, the Saints Simply Wanted it More

    8 Feb 2010 | 4:28 pm
As a Colts fan, this game really disappointed me. But hey, the New Orleans Saints wanted it more. They needed this. After all New Orleans has gone through for the past few years with Hurricane Katrina and all that. Along with that, the Saints were never a good football team. The NFC Championship was the farthest they’ve ever gone before the season started. And they only made the NFC Championship once in their life. The Saints were undervalued. With losing to teams like the Buccaneers with their starters, the Saints were not favorites entering the playoffs. They proved everyone wrong. And…

There was a twinkle in his eyes that set everything around him aglow And then on Monday morning in his news conference here, Brees cradled his MVP trophy much like he had his son. The glow from the silver prize illuminated his face. The stars on the trophy reflected to form a line of stars on the ceiling above him. Saint Brees.
